Hi, I’m Russell Sams, and I’ve been a working actor for more than 25 years in film, television, and theatre — on both sides of the border in Canada and the United States. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing on Apple TV+, Showtime, and major broadcast networks, and working with some truly inspiring artists including Ethan Hawke, Jason Clarke, Richard Gere, Chris O’Donnell, Jensen Ackles, Roger Avary, Claire Danes, Nathan Fillion, Val Kilmer, Faye Dunaway, and Leslie Bibb.
I’m also a father and husband which has given me a deep understanding of the demands of the modern actor and how fast the current entertainment business moves.
What I’ve learned through all of it is that acting isn’t about chasing perfection — it’s about connection. It’s about showing up fully, being present, and allowing something real to happen between you and your scene partner.
That belief is what led me to create The Actor’s Way In, my acting studio where I coach and mentor actors who want to deepen their acting, rediscover their confidence, and find genuine joy in the work again. My approach is grounded with encouragement, practical yet challenging, and built from years of lived experience — the auditions that went great, the ones that didn’t, and everything I learned in between.
Whether I’m teaching in person or through my digital courses, my goal is simple: to help you feel prepared, inspired, and connected — so when the camera rolls or that great opportunity comes knocking, you’re free to dive deep and fast, and your work has honesty, spontaneity, and heart.
