Alan Goodbrand has been in IT and business for over 50 years. Early in his career he recognized that there was a major disconnect between Business and IT. Quite frankly, they didn’t like each other. IT would create products for business and the business people would say “That’s not what I want!”, “Where’d you come up with that?”.

To try and correct this disconnect he went into the Management side of IT, that being, Project Management and Business Analysis. In other words, working with the client to make sure that the products IT builds are what the client wants and needs. He already had a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and went back to school to get a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and began teaching at the University of Calgary in 1994.

He has been teaching at various academic institutions since then as well as continuing in his consulting practice. Being in the Software Development business for over 5 decades he’s seen a lot and learned a lot, both good and bad. At this stage in his career he’s decided to concentrate on what he enjoys most, and where he get the greatest rewards, that is, helping others succeed.
