A multilingual communication and translation professional
About me
Mee-Hyoe Alana Koo is an international journalist, editor, and communications professional with more than 15 years of experience across journalism, global content, and strategic communications.
Her journalism career has included reporting and newsroom experience with Reuters TV and Reuters Text, Dow Jones Newswires/The Wall Street Journal Asia, BBC Asia and BBC London, as well as published work and assignments for Forbes Asia, Forbes Indonesia, The Banker, Institutional Investor, The Asset, and other international publications.
Her reporting has covered business, finance, capital markets, economics, corporate affairs, entrepreneurship, and Asia-Pacific affairs. Her work has ranged from breaking and newswire reporting to executive interviews, financial analysis, company and ownership research, long-form features, and Forbes wealth and list research.
Koo began building her international journalism career after studying International Relations and English Literature at Ewha Womans University in South Korea. Her cross-cultural background and professional experience across international news organizations have shaped her approach to reporting: finding the strongest angle, interrogating evidence, understanding numbers, verifying claims, and communicating complex information clearly for international audiences.
Beyond journalism, Koo has worked in senior content and communications roles across multinational organizations, including Oracle, LG Electronics, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, and the World Bank Group. This experience has given her perspective from both sides of professional communication — as a journalist evaluating information and as a communications professional responsible for presenting complex institutional and corporate information accurately.
She is also a graduate of the Literature Translation Institute of Korea and holds a TESOL certificate from Arizona State University.
In her Udemy courses, Koo draws on her professional experience and original work to teach practical approaches to reporting, writing, editing, translation, and cross-cultural communication. Her journalism course uses real professional case studies to explore the decisions behind the finished story — from sourcing and interviewing to financial analysis, verification, editing, and editorial judgment.
