Dr. Balaji Rajagopalan is a distinguished Medical Biochemist, educator, and researcher with over 25 years of academic experience in medical education. He currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute (SSSMCRI), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Chennai.
He completed his MBBS and MD in Biochemistry from Madras Medical College and Research Institute, graduating with First Class distinction. Throughout his academic career, he has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, academic publications, and various institutional initiatives.
Dr. Balaji Rajagopalan's major research interests include Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Diagnostics, Cancer Research, Laboratory Medicine, Quality Control, Biomarker Discovery, and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare. He has contributed significantly to scientific literature, with 46 publications to his credit, and has also received one copyright for his academic and innovative work.
In addition to his academic and research responsibilities, he serves as a coordinator and member of various institutional and college committees. He has also served as the former Vice Principal for Student Affairs, contributing actively to student development, welfare, and academic activities.
As an educator, Dr. Balaji Rajagopalan is passionate about making complex medical and scientific concepts simple, practical, and engaging. Through his courses, he aims to help students, educators, researchers, and healthcare professionals understand and effectively apply emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, in medical education, research, laboratory diagnostics, and patient care.
His teaching philosophy combines strong scientific fundamentals with innovative learning approaches, enabling learners to develop the knowledge and confidence required to meet the evolving challenges of modern healthcare.
