I am a third-generation real estate investor, with experience in owning rental condos and single-family homes. My journey began as a kid, passing tools to my dad, or holding things steady while he repaired his own rental properties. My seven older brothers and I learned how to clean up after tenants, paint walls, refinish floors, hang cabinets, and install appliances - all from a very hands-on, hardworking dad. In addition to his skills at maintaining properties, my dad also taught us how to inspect properties and find tax savings on the income.
Finding properties has never been easier - but finding properties that will make money is still a challenge. What I have learned more as an adult are the methods to buy smarter, keep good tenants, and more ways to maximize tax savings.
