In the first 15 years of my career (MA in German and Hungarian, Diploma in TESOL) I taught elementary, middle and high students and developed student books in Literature for teenagers. Even though I found great joy in these, I had the odd feeling that we keep missing the point. We are good at teaching various subjects - but who teaches our students about making good – and avoiding bad – decisions when it comes to important life issues? Why do we leave students alone in terms of healthy guidelines, relevant aspects and skills when leading their lives?
Luckily, due to the discoveries of modern psychology and neurology, now we not only know a lot about what one needs in order to feel happy and to thrive in both one's private and professional life, but we also have the terms and proven best practices for them! For another 15 years, as a 7 Habits facilitator and coach, I helped thousands of teachers to first apply this knowledge in their own lives, then pass this on to their students – from kindergarten to high school. And I saw miracles!
I developed Fledging to show adults how they can have a better grip on their own lives utilising current science, and give help to parents and teachers how to prepare their children and students for a fulfilled and productive future.
I also work as a tutor for teacher training courses by Trinity College London.
