About me
Meet Chef Ehis Ebenezer, a seasoned culinary professional with over 25 years of hands-on experience in African and international cuisine. As the CEO and Head Chef at ECA, Lagos, he leads a culinary training institute dedicated to equipping aspiring chefs with the skills, discipline, and creativity to thrive in today's competitive food industry.
Chef Ehis’s passion for cooking was kindled in his mother’s kitchen and further shaped by her catering work in Alake. Though he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Lagos, his true calling led him to pursue formal culinary training at the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA), Dubai and SCAFA, a leading professional culinary school in the UAE. He also earned diplomas in French cuisine, food safety, and hospitality management.
Over the years, Chef Ehis has led culinary teams across diverse environments, from offshore vessels like M/V SIEM MARLIN at the Agbami Oil Field, to upscale guesthouses and fine dining restaurants like Xquisite in Lagos. His areas of expertise include menu design, food cost control, recipe development, international cuisine, and culinary staff training.
A recipient of multiple accolades, Chef Ehis won the Celebrity Cooking “Soup-A-Star” Competition in 2019, and was recognized by Afrikana News (Boston, 2018) as one of Africa’s Best Chefs. He has served as a judge and consultant at several culinary competitions and hospitality institutions across Nigeria.
Chef Ehis is passionate about giving back. From 2015 to 2019, he spearheaded large-scale feeding outreaches for underserved communities in Lagos including Ajegunle, Mushin, and Makoko serving thousands of meals. Though these major programs have since concluded, he continues to provide occasional food donations and mentorship visits to various local areas.
On Udemy, Chef Ehis brings his vibrant teaching style and extensive real-world knowledge to life through practical, accessible, and inspiring courses. Whether you're a beginner eager to master the foundations of African cooking, or a seasoned cook seeking to blend classic techniques with West African flavors, Chef Ehis’s classes are designed to build confidence and elevate your craft.
Expect to learn everything from spice layering techniques and gourmet plating to creating profitable recipes and running food businesses all taught with authenticity, enthusiasm, and a heart for community empowerment.
