Hi, I’m Colin — founder of Untangle Philosophy — and my passion is helping students make sense of complex philosophical ideas through clear, structured lessons.

When I first started my philosophy degree, I could barely find a seat in the lecture hall. But as the weeks went by, the room grew emptier. Many students dropped out — not because they weren’t capable, but because philosophy can seem overwhelmingly complex, abstract, and sometimes taught in a way that feels more confusing than enlightening.

That experience shaped how I teach today. I believe philosophy doesn’t have to be intimidating or tedious. My goal is to make the great ideas of thinkers like Aristotle, Kant, and Aquinas feel accessible, meaningful, and even enjoyable to learn.

My Mission

My mission is to make sure that complexity and obscurity are never barriers to understanding philosophy. I founded Untangle Philosophy — a platform for learning challenging ideas simply — after becoming a stay-at-home dad and wanting to bring clarity to the often-intimidating world of philosophy.

My Qualifications

• Master’s degree with Distinction, University of Edinburgh (Epistemology, Ethics, and Mind).

• First-class BA(Hons) in Philosophy, University of the West of England.
