David Lapesa Barrera is an Aeronautical Engineer specialized in Continuing Airworthiness Management. He is the author of the book Aircraft Maintenance Programs, a definitive reference work for students in the field of aerospace engineering, airline staff, and aircraft maintenance engineers, and The Lean Airline: Flight Excellence.

He has contributed to the Lean management of diverse aircraft fleets for several top airlines. His work includes the Airbus A220 aircraft program (the former Bombardier C Series) for Swiss International Airlines as its first operator, managing the largest Airbus A380 fleet worldwide for Emirates Airlines, and overseeing the most modern airliner, the A350, for Iberojet.

David is certified as ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 27001 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) Lead Auditor, IOSA Internal Auditor for airlines, and Kaizen Facilitator, along with training on several improvement methods and tools.
