I am a former Canada Research Chair in Chronic Disease Prevention and Management and a Professor at the first Canadian accredited School of Public Health at the University of Alberta, Canada.

Within the School, I am the Program Director for the Clinical Epidemiology program. I am also a Clinical Investigator with the Alliance for Canadian Health Outcomes Research in Diabetes, and a member of the Alberta Diabetes Institute Research & Trainee Steering Committee at the University.  Nationally, I am a Board Member of Diabetes Canada National Research Council. I am currently a writing member for the 2023 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Pharmacological Management of Type 2 Diabetes published by Diabetes Canada.

I conduct reviews of clinical evidence for a large number of organizations including FDA, Health Canada, and provincial formulary systems in Canada
