About me
Dr. Ntamu Blessing Agbo (PhD) is a bilingual Counselling and Educational Psychologist (English and French), Senior Lecturer, and Researcher at the University of Calabar, Nigeria. With over two decades of academic and professional experience, she has established herself as a leading voice in neuropsychology, developmental psychology, behaviour modification, trauma, gender equality, inclusive learning, and the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
At the University of Calabar, Dr. Ntamu serves as Head of External Relations and Head of Employment Relations and Partnerships, where she spearheads collaborations with academic institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations worldwide. She oversees joint and dual degree programmes, staff and student mobility initiatives, international conferences, entrepreneurship projects, scholarships, and grant implementation. In her employment relations role, she bridges the gap between academia and industry by fostering mentorship, internships, volunteering opportunities, and employability skills development for students.
Dr. Ntamu is a Diplomatic Fellow (D.F. SGBV-1 Instructor) of the Federation for International Gender and Human Rights, New York, and a CPD UK-accredited trainer, delivering teacher competency training, classroom interaction optimization, and trauma-informed psychosocial support to first responders. Between 2020 and 2023, she volunteered as a Technical Support Expert/Psychologist at the Cross River State Ministry of Women Affairs GBV Centre, collaborating with partners such as UNFPA, FHI, Save the Children International, and GADA. She continues to serve as a consultant to the One Stop Centre on GBV and has trained hundreds of first responders, including officers of the Nigerian Police Force, FRSC, NSCDC, school counsellors, and community-based organizations.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ntamu is the Founder of Springs of Life Association for Women and Girl Child Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization advancing education, gender parity, and women’s empowerment in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also sits on the board of Legacies of Men, a U.S.-based NGO focused on men’s mental health and suicide prevention. Her consultancy contributions include the development of the Cross River State Standard Operating Procedures on GBV and the Cross River Gender Strategic Plan (2022–2026), initiated by UNFPA.
Her academic journey is distinguished by a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Distinction) from Nasarawa State University, Keffi; an M.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos; a Bachelors in Biology Education from the University of Calabar; and a Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française (DELF A2) from the Ministry of National Education, France. She has further enriched her expertise through over 40 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certifications from globally renowned institutions, including the University of Cambridge, University of Edinburgh, King’s College London, University of Liverpool, University of Glasgow, and Monash University.
Her professional experience spans roles as Visiting Scholar at the State University of New York, Cortland (2025), Senior Lecturer at the University of Calabar, Deputy Provost Academics at City College of Education Abuja, Director of Academic Programmes, Programme Administrative Officer, and Teacher/Peer Educator Trainer with UNICEF’s Adolescent Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Programme.
Dr. Ntamu’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including the Most Outstanding Staff Award (2025) from the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, the Global Women Icon’s Award (2023) from the International Council for Education, Research and Training (ICERT), and the Ekalavya Award (2023) for self-motivated learning and development.
Through her teaching, research, advocacy, and leadership, Dr. Ntamu Blessing Agbo continues to inspire transformation in education, gender equality, and mental health, leaving an indelible mark on academia and society.
