About me
Dr. Prayer Riju, M.E., Ph.D
Additive Manufacturing Specialist | DFAM Expert | Researcher in LPBF | 3D Printing Practitioner
Dr. Prayer Riju is a researcher and educator specializing in Additive Manufacturing and Material Science, with technical expertise spanning both metal and polymer 3D printing technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Additive Manufacturing and Material Science from VIT University, where his research focused on optimizing Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) process parameters—scan patterns, hatch spacing, and rotation angles—to improve the wear behavior of SS316L structures under simulated body fluid conditions. He has over five years of hands-on experience working with advanced additive manufacturing systems, including Eplus M100T and EOS M290 metal 3D printers, and is proficient in design for additive manufacturing (DFAM), slicing strategies, material characterization, and process optimization.
Dr. Riju has published several high-impact journal papers (Q1–Q2 Elsevier) and multiple book chapters, and he is also the author of “Additive Manufacturing: A Beginner’s Guide.” His academic contributions span areas such as tribology of biomaterials, wear engineering, and the development of AM-based biomedical components.
In addition to his research, Dr. Riju has extensive teaching and mentoring experience, having supported engineering students in subjects related to manufacturing processes, design, and materials engineering. He has collaborated with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, biomedical, and design domains, and has developed strong expertise in laboratory management, project execution, and technical instruction.
