Hello, my name is Elisha Russell and I am a Trainer for DOT urine and Alcohol Collections. I have been in this industry for over 10 years, and I have seen it all. From nervous trainees fumbling with collection cups to seasoned professionals handling difficult situations with ease. But my true passion lies in keeping our communities safe. You see, every time I train a new collector, I am not just teaching them how to properly collect and handle urine and alcohol samples. I am also instilling in them the importance of their role in maintaining the safety of our roads. It may seem like a simple task, but every sample collected correctly means one less impaired driver out on the streets. And that is what drives me, knowing that I am making a difference in my community. But let me tell you, this job is not without its challenges. I have encountered all sorts of excuses and resistance from individuals trying to avoid getting tested. But I have learned to be patient and understanding, while also firmly enforcing the rules. One particular incident stands out in my mind. I was training a new collector in a small town, and we were met with hostility from the locals. They were convinced that our testing was an invasion of their privacy and refused to cooperate. But I didn't let that stop me. I calmly explained the importance of our work and how it keeps everyone safe on the roads. Eventually, they came around and even thanked us for our efforts. It's moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. Being a Trainer for DOT urine and Alcohol Collections may not be the most glamorous job, but it is one that brings me a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
