Evan Wainberg joins The Joyful Life Project as a participant, conversational guide, and student stand-in.
For more than 30 years, he has explored martial arts, philosophy, meditation, and Buddhist thought, seeking clarity, presence, and a more grounded way of living. Throughout his studies, he noticed a familiar gap: in stressful or emotionally charged moments, insight didn’t always translate into lived experience.
What drew Evan to The Joyful Life Project was its simplicity and lack of dogma. The work is not presented as a belief system or a set of truths to adopt, but as a series of experiments to try. Rather than focusing on changing external circumstances, the experiments explore how inner experience can shift - even when life itself does not.
Throughout the course, Evan shares his firsthand experience applying the experiments and interviews Michael Fall, often bringing larger ideas into practical, everyday contexts. His role is to ask the kinds of questions many students have: “I understand the concept - what does this actually look like in real life?”
Evan does not teach or claim expertise. He explores openly and imperfectly, sharing what he notices along the way. His hope is to offer a relatable perspective that encourages students to trust their own experience, test what resonates, and discover what becomes possible through practice.
