Throughout her career, Dr. Nelson has been especially interested in helping women understand the “why” behind their health—not simply telling them what they should or shouldn't do.
Her teaching combines medical knowledge with practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life. She believes meaningful improvements in health are more likely to last when women understand their own bodies, behaviors, goals, and circumstances rather than trying to follow a one-size-fits-all prescription.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Nelson has taught and mentored future healthcare professionals and served as a clinical preceptor for physician assistant and nurse practitioner students.
Her Women’s Health Foundations courses bring that same educational approach to a broader audience. Beginning with mindset and continuing through nutrition, fitness, sleep, and other areas of women’s health, the series is designed to help women develop the knowledge and practical skills to make informed, sustainable choices about their health.
Dr. Nelson’s goal as an educator is simple: make good health information understandable, useful, and realistic enough to become part of real life.
