Dedicated and driven junior doctor currently working as GP trainee in Hertford with a background in A&E, post-doctoral research and a PhD in Biomaterials.

James is currently in his second year as a GP trainee alongside an intercalated training placement in same day emergency care at Lister hospital. He has 5 years experience at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital as a senior house officer, working primarily in respiratory A&E during the covid pandemic. This forged an excellent working relationship with the team at Basildon A&E who are currently battling the ever-increasing demands on the department.

James has also completed an academic foundation placement as part of his foundation training after medical school, part of which included a diploma in medical education. This has paved the way for a variety of teaching opportunities both in and out of the NHS.

Prior to medicine, he pursued a career in research. After receiving a first-class honours in biomedical sciences at the University of Brighton he completed a 4 year fully funded PhD. His research focused on developing a novel 3D polyethylene biomaterial for cell culture. He was supervised by an excellent team of scientists from the diabetes research group aiming to mass culture transplantable beta cells. This role required constant high-level problem solving, networking, and presenting in front of large audiences at national conferences. Receiving two awards for his presenting skills, demonstrating confidence and charisma during his time as a research student and eventually post-doctoral researcher in burn wound healing.
