I began my journey in art and fashion design, studying in both Shanghai and Chicago. Over the years, I worked in the fashion industry and taught fashion illustration and design at leading art and design schools across the U.S. and abroad.

But along the way, I realized something important: many students were being taught to draw without first learning the most essential parts — how to truly see, and what line is really about. I experienced this myself early in my career — struggling in the industry despite years of schooling — until I began to approach drawing more like writing: something learned step by step, line by line, with clarity and rhythm.

That’s where JZen Art of Line was born.

My approach blends traditional Eastern aesthetics with modern design thinking, emphasizing observation, structure, and flow. I guide students to reconnect with their creative voice through mindful, intentional practice.
