Josefina Beatriz Longoria is an accomplished author, editorial columnist, correspondent, radio, and television commentator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Master of Arts in Organizational Development, from Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico. In addition, she earned a second Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.

After graduating from The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry New York, she attended a dance workshop at Harvard University in Boston and studied French Civilization at La Sorbonne in Paris. She wrote a film script for a workshop at the Cultural Institute of Nuevo Leon. She has authored works including “The Journalist Writer” for the University of Monterrey and was a chosen author for the anthology A traves de los Ojos de Ella (Through Her Eyes 1999), anthology of Mexican Women Writers. Josefina’s list of editorial contributions spans several years for many Mexican newspapers.

After enjoying a bright professional career in Mexico, she got married, moved to Texas, and had two sons, one with special needs. Having an autistic child changed her life. After being a fulltime mother for fifteen years, divorce was the opportunity for her to reclaim her story in her self-published memoir Uproot (2018). Her Master of Arts in Creative Writing (2020) helped her end a lifelong addiction to literary drama and stop consuming stories that would feed her need to play the victim or damsel in need of rescue. Enjoy is the product of her research to examine our urge to consume tragedy and drama, which continually reinforces need to play roles and impede our ability to free ourselves and find inner peace.
