Karoly Nyisztor is a software engineer, AI instructor, author, and professional software architect with over 30 years of experience. He has reached more than 400,000 students worldwide through his courses and teaching, and holds 12 patents in software architecture and mobile computing.

Before becoming a full-time instructor, Karoly spent two decades in the software industry and worked with companies including Siemens, SAP, and Apple. In 2016, he founded Leakka, a software development, consulting, and education company.

Karoly completed the Software Architecture Design and Analysis program at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and has designed systems and components for large-scale medical and enterprise software.

As a software developer, Karoly created several successful iOS apps that were featured by Apple, including as “New and Noteworthy” and among the “Best Travel Apps.”

Karoly teaches artificial intelligence and software engineering, with a focus on practical AI skills for developers and professionals. His current work covers AI foundations, AI in the workplace, Claude and Claude Code, large language models (LLMs), AI-assisted software development, AI agents and agentic workflows, prompt engineering, AI security and reliability, and the effective use of generative AI at work.

He is the creator of several AI courses across platforms, including courses on AI foundations, advanced Claude Code, production-ready Claude applications, and open-source LLMs. His teaching goes beyond individual AI tools: he focuses on understanding what modern AI can and cannot do, choosing the right tools, evaluating AI output, and integrating AI responsibly into real-world workflows.

He also teaches software architecture, object-oriented design and programming, software security, iOS development, machine learning, Python, and other software engineering topics.

Today, his main interests sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence, software engineering, and the changing workplace. He is particularly interested in how AI assistants and AI agents are changing the way people learn, write, research, solve problems, and build software, along with the skills professionals need to work effectively alongside AI.
