Dr. Kent McCorkle is a tenured chemistry professor with twenty years of experience in science education.  Originally from Indiana, he earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Auburn University.

He has taught chemistry at universities and community colleges and currently teaches chemistry at MiraCosta College in Southern California.  He is also the creator of GetChemistryHelp, an online chemistry education resource focused on making chemistry clear, practical, and approachable.

Dr. Kent’s teaching emphasizes real-world applications, clear explanations, and conceptual understanding.  His goal is to help learners see chemistry not as a collection of equations to memorize, but as a useful way to understand food, medicine, water, energy, materials, health, technology, and the world around them.

He is especially passionate about helping students and lifelong learners build confidence, think critically, and recognize how science can be used to evaluate claims, solve problems, and make better decisions in everyday life.
