I am a lifelong disciple of the cultural history of Italy. My academic background is in the art, languages, and literature of early modern Italy and France (Medieval/Renaissance). I specialize in the Italian Renaissance, with M.A.s from both the Ohio State University and University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

I am U.S. born, but now live and teach university students in Florence, Italy. I believe that the best approach to cultural study is the harmony between all of the moving pieces of cultural production. My teaching philosophy is strongly based on the notion that high level history can and should be accessible to everyone. To help bridge the highly academic and public worlds, I created a podcast on the history of the Italian Renaissance which can be used to supplement some course material.

Aside from history, I am an enormous fantasy and horror nerd, dog lover, collector, and traveler.
