I was born in Venezuela, where I pursued my passion for engineering and technology. I completed my Master´s in Biomedical Engineering from Simón Bolívar University. Then I traveled to the US and got my PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, in North Carolina. Both transformative experiences ignited my interest in applying complex technologies to solve real-world problems. For many years, I've had the privilege of serving as a full professor at my alma mater, a role that has allowed me to mentor and guide the next generation of engineers.
My professional work is centered on the intersection of academia and innovation. As a member of the National Academy of Engineering and Habitat, I focus on how artificial intelligence and data can be used to improve fields like engineering and medicine. I've also had the opportunity to lead and collaborate on research projects that push the boundaries of technology, from using voice analysis and non-linear models to detect vocal cord pathologies to participation in the creation of virtual assistants for radiologists that use deep learning to analyze chest X-ray images and mammography images. I also have experience teaching online Python courses to engineering and biology graduate students at Valencia International University in Spain.
Through all my endeavors, my core passion has been to make technology accessible and understandable to everyone. I believe in empowering people with digital skills and demystifying topics like programming and artificial intelligence. It's this passion that has led me to create this course, and I'm thrilled to share my knowledge with you and help you discover the power of creating with technology.
