Hi, I’m Matt Averkamp, and I’ve been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over 20 years. During that time, I’ve had a front-row seat to the financial side of business — from brand-new startups celebrating their first customer to billion-dollar companies making global moves.

Along the way, I’ve traveled the world as a Venture Capital CFO, helping manage investment funds with more than $350 million in investor capital and participating in several unicorn deals (that’s venture capital speak for companies valued at over $1 billion). Earlier in my career, I worked as an Audit Manager at one of the Big Four accounting firms, and I’ve also served as a fractional CFO for dozens of companies across industries including e-commerce, real estate, healthcare, and investment firms.

In other words… I’ve seen a lot of spreadsheets.

But what I enjoy most isn’t the spreadsheets — it’s helping business owners actually understand the financial side of their business.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with large multinational companies, but I’ve also spent years helping entrepreneurs who were just starting out. I’ve watched businesses grow from day one into thriving companies — and I’ve also seen the financial mistakes that quietly cost business owners thousands of dollars in unnecessary taxes, compliance issues, and preventable headaches.

That’s exactly why I teach.

My goal is simple: make finance and taxes understandable, practical, and even a little enjoyable, so you can avoid the common pitfalls and build a smarter, more profitable business.

Because when business owners understand their numbers, they make better decisions — and keep more of the money they work so hard to earn.
