About me
Hi, I'm Mike Kriens, a Senior IT Systems Administrator with 25 years of experience across a broad range of IT disciplines, from on-premises infrastructure and cloud services to endpoint management, identity, automation, and software-oriented solutions.
Over the years, I have worked across both frontend and backend technologies, but my current focus is on designing, implementing, improving, and troubleshooting modern IT environments. My day-to-day work includes technologies such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows, Windows 365, Microsoft 365 endpoint administration, PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and automation.
In my senior role, I help guide a technical team and take the lead when new technologies or major solutions are introduced. I typically design the initial architecture and technical approach, work through the important dependencies and implementation decisions, and then help the team develop, operationalize, and improve the solution further. I am strongly solution-oriented and naturally look for opportunities to automate repetitive work, improve consistency, and make administration more scalable and maintainable.
Knowledge sharing is also an important part of my work. I regularly explain technical concepts, coach colleagues, and provide internal training so that the team understands not only what to configure, but also why a solution works and how the different components fit together.
That same approach shapes the learning material I create. I focus on practical understanding, realistic administrative decisions, and clear explanations rather than memorizing isolated facts. Whether the topic is endpoint management, cloud administration, automation, or certification preparation, my goal is to connect the underlying technology to the way IT professionals actually have to reason and work in real environments.
I believe good technical learning should leave you with more than an answer: it should help you understand the requirement, recognize the dependencies, choose an appropriate solution, and explain why that solution makes sense.
