I'm the author of fifteen non-fiction books on Texas history, sports, crime, and comedy. My Undertold Texas book series is ongoing. I've also written four historical fiction novels, two of which are part of the ongoing Duckworth Historical Crime Series. I've also written, produced and directed eight feature length Texas history documentaries and over 150 short educational Texas history films. Before my writing career, I spent 20 years as a full-time, professional stand-up comedian and musician before working on-air in radio and television. It was while doing sports on TV that I pitched a regional history program. That brought me full circle - back to my college history and government major. I've been earning my living from creating history media and content ever since, telling great history stories. That includes teaching Houston and Texas history at Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies for more than a decade. I believe that anyone who doesn't love history just never had the right teacher.
