About me
I'm an American entrepreneur, software engineer, and leadership coach based on the East Coast — and above everything else, a father of three.
Over 20 years, I've built and shipped software across an unusually wide range of industries: software and fintech companies, global consumer production, shipping lines, healthcare data analytics, insurance agencies, and nonprofits. I've done it inside scrappy startups where I wore every hat, and inside large corporations where the hardest problem was getting three departments to agree. Both taught me things the other never could.
Alongside that work, I'm a Licensed Insurance Specialist — Medicare, employer group benefits, and business, liability, professional, and home & auto coverage. My clients include financial planners, tax strategists, CEOs, and the HR and benefits leaders of small and mid-sized companies. Different vocabulary, same job: take something complicated and consequential, and make it clear enough that a person can act with confidence.
That's what I teach. I've coached over 100 people — engineers stepping into their first leadership role, founders learning to delegate, professionals trying to explain complex work to people who don't share their background. My aim in every course is the same: give you the practical framework and the human context, so the lesson survives contact with a real Monday morning.
Twenty years in, I'm convinced the technical part is rarely what holds people back. It's the harder questions. How do I lead people who used to be my peers? How do I earn trust in a room where I'm the newest person? How do I build something meaningful without it costing me my family? I've worked through all three, imperfectly, and I teach from what actually worked — not from theory.
Outside of work, I'm active in my community and I mentor people who can't do anything for me in return. I've found that's the most reliable test of whether leadership advice is real.
If you're here, you're investing in yourself. I don't take that lightly. Let's get to work.
A note for anyone who found me through the insurance or benefits material. Alongside teaching, I run an active brokerage practice: I am a licensed health and life insurance broker, NPN 21769126, appointed in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Florida and New York, and I write Medicare, employer group health and employee benefits, life insurance and commercial coverage. I also coach and train leaders and management teams, one to one and in groups, as a John Maxwell certified coach. If any of that is useful to you, my website and social profiles are linked on this profile, and there is a booking page there if you would like to talk something through. I answer my own messages.
