My name is Nabin Baral, a documentary photographer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. I have previously worked as a Consultant Photographer and Photo Editor at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) from 2009 to 2013. In recognition of my work, I received the Gender Champion Award from ICIMOD in 2013.

My photographic work mainly focuses on environmental issues, mountain landscapes, people, and social concerns. I also worked as a Photography and Documentary Film Consultant for Friends Affected and Infected Together in Hand (FAITH), an NGO based in Kathmandu, working in the field of HIV/AIDS and Drugs for three years.

As a visiting Lecturer of photojournalism, I have taught at several colleges in Kathmandu. I hold a degree in mass communication and journalism from Tribhuvan University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Photojournalism from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines' Konrad Adenauer Asian Centre for Journalism.

I firmly believe that multimedia and photographic stories have a unique ability to influence society through communication, persuasion, education, and information. My photographs and articles have been published in several Nepalese daily newspapers as well as international development publications such as WWF Nepal, World Vision International, USAID, ICIMOD, and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation.
