About the author
Biography- Dr. Paul Sambataro, born June 30, 1959, in San Francisco, California, is a renowned author and program developer. He is best known for his work on The Emotional Budgeting Workbook, The Cognitive Narrative Developmental Workbook, and as the course developer and instructor of The Emotional Budgeting Workbook Course.
As the president of the Houston Behavioral Health Institute, Dr. Sambataro brings a wealth of knowledge from his doctorate in Neurobehavioral Psychology and studies in Clinical and Organizational Psychology. His background in Wildlife Biology and early education has spanned Italy, Ireland, Canada, New Hampshire, and Washington, and has provided him with a unique perspective and formative cross-cultural experiences. This multicultural background has been instrumental in shaping his vision of building a common foundation to address mental health issues.
With over 20 years of experience working with students with disabilities, including three years as a school psychologist for the North and Central Kitsap school district in Washington State, Dr. Sambataro has developed a unique approach to mental health. His work in various roles, including workshop development for the Developmental Disabilities Council, counseling in Washington State, and administration of therapeutic clinics, has given him a deep understanding of mental health issues.
Dr. Sambataro’s innovative “Emotional Budgeting” concept emerged from his extensive school psychologist experience. This concept encourages individuals to manage the vast amount of data they encounter each day more efficiently, reducing emotional stress and anxiety and ultimately improving processing speed and focus. Emotional budgeting is a tool that aids in making better decisions by helping individuals understand and structure their relationship memories, thereby enabling the brain to organize itself automatically.
The Houston Behavioral Health Institute (HBHI), a domestic non-profit corporation, was established in 2019 when Dr. Paul and Cynthia Sambataro moved to Houston after completing Washington State DSHS contracts.
