Scott Miker is an author, executive leader, and systems thinker whose work explores how psychology, organizational systems, and human behavior interact to shape the choices people make—and how individuals can reclaim agency within them.
He is the author of You Can’t Surf from the Shore, which introduced his systems-and-habits framework for personal and professional development, and VOLITION, a forthcoming book on why most people don’t consciously choose their lives—and how to reclaim agency from the default systems that quietly shape them.
Scott brings more than two decades of executive leadership experience across healthcare, technology, operations, and entrepreneurship. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Justice Studies from Kent State University and an MBA in Leadership from Tiffin University, combining academic grounding in human behavior with extensive experience leading organizational transformation, scaling teams, and developing leaders.
He has designed and led leadership development programs across multiple organizations, spoken in professional and academic settings on leadership and entrepreneurship, and served as a judge for entrepreneurial pitch competitions. His work consistently focuses on strengthening decision-making, building leadership capacity, and helping individuals and teams operate more effectively within complex organizational environments.
Scott’s writing has appeared in Entrepreneur, COSE Mind Your Business, and other publications. Through his website, his books, and his long-form essays, he explores how systems, habits, and psychological patterns shape behavior—and how understanding those forces allows people to move from default living to intentional action.
