About me
Empowering Learners Through Simulation and Engineering Innovation
Who Am I?
I’m Dr. Syed Atif Iqrar, a mechanical engineer, educator, and researcher with a PhD in engineering and deep expertise in numerical simulation, microfluidics, optical engineering, and finite element analysis (FEA).
Over the past decade, I’ve worked extensively with COMSOL Multiphysics®, ANSYS, and SolidWorks, developing real-world engineering solutions, from cold-chain refrigeration devices for rural Africa to microplastic detection systems and microscale fluidic platforms.
My academic journey spans:
Postdoctoral Researcher at Aston University, United Kingdom.
PhD research at Aston University (UK)
Research roles in South Korea (KAIST) and Pakistan (NUST and IIUI)
Marie Skłodowska Curie ITN Fellowship recipient
Published in international journals, including Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society (Oxford Academic), Diagnostics, Photochem, and the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer.
Through my YouTube channel " Learn with SAI ", I’ve taught thousands of learners worldwide how to use COMSOL step-by-step, and my Udemy courses are the next step in making simulation learning clear, structured, and accessible.
My areas of expertise:
Design and Numerical Analysis/Simulations – Proficient in advanced 2D and 3D modelling using industry-standard tools such as SolidWorks and PTC Creo, with expertise in optimising designs for manufacturability and functionality. Numerical analysis using FEA tool (COMSOL and ANSYS) for CFD, FSI, Acoustofluidic, Structural, and Heat and Mass transfer applications.
Optics Proficient in utilising advanced optical spectroscopic systems, including Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, and Absorption Spectroscopy, for the characterisation of micro- and nano-plastics in water. Experienced in the design and development of bespoke in-house optical spectroscopic systems, tailored for precision analysis and specialised applications.
Microfluidics - Acoustofluidics – Experienced in developing microTAS (Micro Total Analysis Systems) technology and designing Point-of-Care devices for the rapid diagnosis of critical diseases. Proficient in the experimental and numerical investigation of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) within microfluidic systems, focusing on innovative methods for particle manipulation, mixing, and separation. Droplet microfluidics – Interaction of travelling surface acoustic waves with micro-droplets, e.g. on-demand droplet generation by active manipulation.
My Mission
I learned simulation the hard way, through trial, error, and piecing together scattered online resources. I know how frustrating it can be when you just want clear, practical guidance. That’s why I’ve designed my courses to:
Provide step-by-step, beginner-friendly lectures
Cover the complete 7-step simulation workflow
Deliver real-world engineering applications you can use immediately
Include hands-on projects, assignments, and post-processing techniques
Offer personal instructor support to keep you on track
Why Choose My Courses?
Instructor with Real Simulation Expertise: Led by a PhD researcher and Marie Skłodowska–Curie Fellow with over 8 years of hands-on experience in COMSOL, ANSYS, and SolidWorks, and 5,000+ students across 80+ countries.
Built for Beginners, Backed by Structure: Perfect for students, researchers, and professionals who want to learn COMSOL from the ground up, no prior experience required. Just follow the 7-step workflow.
Practice-Driven, Not Just Theory: Learn through real-world projects, not just slides. Build geometries, assign physics, solve problems, and interpret results with confidence.
Downloadable Models & Guided Projects: Access fully guided models and assignments you can modify, reuse, or study, all with real engineering relevance.
Designed to Solve Real Problems: From heat transfer and fluid flow to thermal stress and multiphysics coupling, everything you learn applies directly to academic or industrial simulations.
Supportive Learning, Every Step of the Way: I know the frustration of learning simulation alone. That’s why I offer clear explanations, organised content, and direct support throughout the course.
