I’m Tom Lenz, an artist, scenic designer, and creative specialist with over 30 years of experience working with blacklight, UV-reactive paints, fluorescent effects, scenic art, murals, themed environments, and creative surface finishes.
My background includes work in scenic painting, themed attractions, entertainment design, immersive environments, playgrounds, art installations, and custom decorative finishes. Over the years, I have worked with many different materials, surfaces, lighting conditions, and painting techniques — from canvas and murals to fabric, props, sets, and large-scale themed spaces.
Blacklight painting has always been one of my favorite creative mediums because it combines art, color, light, illusion, and surprise. A painting can look one way in normal light, then completely transform under UV light. That sense of magic is what first attracted me to blacklight art, and it is what I enjoy sharing with others.
In my courses, I focus on practical, hands-on techniques that students can actually use. I like to explain materials clearly, demonstrate different methods, and show how experimentation can lead to exciting creative results. My goal is to help beginners and creative people feel confident using UV paints, fluorescent colors, and blacklight effects in their own artwork, clothing, décor, performances, or themed projects.
I’m excited to share what I’ve learned through decades of experience and help you explore the glowing world of blacklight painting.
