I’m Tommy, a keen amateur pianist with a largely Classical background.
I have a longstanding interest in developing content to help amateur pianists like myself get the best from the great hobby of playing piano.
My courses cover musicianship and also helping acoustic musicians create clearer, more natural recordings of their playing.
After returning to the piano over 10 years ago, I spent a great deal of time researching and experimenting with practical recording techniques for acoustic instruments in real-world environments such as homes, practice rooms and performance spaces.
I have also developed my musical knowledge to understand harmony in a practical sense - thereby helping make more complex music accessible by demystifying it.
My courses focus on approachable, musician-friendly guidance rather than complicated theory. Whether this is to:
Build confidence with recording and audio tools while preserving a natural musical sound; or
Understand the harmonic behaviour behind what is on the page in front of us,
my fundamental approach is the same - I like to focus on what actually moves the needle for us.
