As an early career researcher, Umar’s international experiences culminate in his role as an Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan, where he writes grant proposals and teaches AI, Data Science and Programming courses. Currently, he is working on multiple international grants as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI. These grants are sourced from Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the National Center for Physics (NCP), respectively. In two of his international grants, he investigates the development of lightweight AI tools dealing with medical images, acoustic signals, and genetics data of Alzheimer’s disease. He is working on several community and industrial projects and offering trainings to make this world a better place by using technology. He received his Ph.D and MS in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain. He is also a certified data scientist and Python programmer from Microsoft and Python Institute, respectively. He is passionate about academic career in multidisciplinary R&D projects of healthcare, bioinformatics, IoT and digital tool development, assisted by AI.
