Dr. Umema Zafar MBBS, MPhil, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the department of Physiology at Shifa School of Medicine, Islamabad, Pakistan. She has been teaching human physiology for the past 13 years. She is an internationally acclaimed researcher and has authored more than 40 publications. Her work has garnered formal acknowledgment from the American Physiological Society via Research Recognition Award in 2022. Dr. Umema Zafar has also served as Vice President of the South Asian Association of Physiologists. Her recent work in physiology has been published by Taylor and Francis as a standalone book titled Mind Metrics: Unlocking the Science of Measuring Brain Health (Routledge, 2025).
